Choosing Knitting Needles

By admin | June 6, 2008

When my friend was looking for her first knitting needles, she did a lot of research before making her purchases. First, she discovered that needles come in different sizes, and three major types: regular, double-pointed (with a point on each end) and circular needles, joined together by flexible wire. Each type is used for different projects. For example, since she wanted to make a sweater, my friend chose a set of four double-pointed needles to help her with the sleeve portions. Additionally, she needed to choose the best needle material for her work. Needles can be made from bamboo, aluminum, and even glass, among many other materials. For her project, she wanted something light and easy to maneuver, so she chose bamboo. With that set of needles, she made a great sweater, and she even let me try it on!
