Culture of the Dulcimer.
By admin | April 6, 2008
The word Dulcimer means sweet sound. The name comes from the Greek and Latin words duce - melos.
Dulcimer instruments are found all over the world and are usually defined as a trapezoid box with sets of 2 stings usually 2 to 6 sets. They are normally divided by a bridge.
Though we can’t be certain where thinstrumentsts came from it seems that it is attributed to the ancient Persians whos empire at ont time covered the land where Turkey, Iraq, and Iran are located now.
Some parts of the world still use the Dulcimer as a large part of theiculturalal music but there are also many more areas that have never heard of or in some cases have even forgotten the sweet sound of the Dulcimer.
