Is Geico the cheapest car insurance?

I know you’ve all seen the little green lizard guy who sells insurance on television for geico car insurance. (He’s actually supposed to be a gecko, but I don’t know if that is real reptile or just something Geico made up.) Anyway, I’ve been getting ready to buy a new car and thought I would shop for a new car insurance policy at the same time. Geico looks pretty good on TV, but I wondered if they are really the cheapest. They claim you can save fifteen percent off your current policy, but I’m wondering if that is true. Has anybody else shopped around for insurance lately? Did you find that Geico was the cheapest or did you find a better deal somewhere else?
