One question a lot of people ask is could they get student loans even after filing for bankruptcy. This is a slightly different topic and would require detailed discussion on the subject. Remember that student loan is not discharged from bankruptcy normally. When you declared bankruptcy, and if you had a student loan bankruptcy pending on your name, you should take steps to clear that off immediately. This needs to be done because no institution will lend you a student loan when you are defaulting on the current student loan. Building credit is of course a vital step to this exercise, but first, you need to take care of the existing loan.
