Food and Depression: The Missing Link
By admin | May 12, 2008
What is the link between food and depression? Many people have a difficult time dealing with depression, so they eat more food as a result. Because they eat more food, they tend to put on more weigh and become depressed about the weight. It seems to be a vicious cycle. It is also true that certain types of foods can cause depression in certain people. For instance, if you have an allergy to a specific type of food but are not aware of it, it can affect your body. I am allergic to shellfish; when I eat it or breath in the fumes from it, I break out into hives and my air passages close up making it difficult to breathe. If I am extremely irritated, it can make it difficult to sleep at night. And as we all know, lack of sleep leads to being irritable, tired and leads to poor work performance as well. All of these factors can then lead to depression. This is why it is so important to pay attention to your body. Know what you are doing and eating as well as how it affects you.
