Think before you speak, Kid Rock, your words have little meaning
By admin | February 1, 2009
The American musician, Kid Rock, has become the latest celebrity to parade an ambiguous drugs message before the public. The 34 year old rock star claimed in an interview with Q magazine that some people take cocaine and “have a fun night and go about their business.” Others, he quipped, “do a line of cocaine and start selling their TVs and their guitar and everything else.”In the interview he also spoke of his confusion over alcohol and drug rehab, admitting that he didn’t understand what rehab was about. Why are so many celebs eager to philosophise about drugs in public? Unless their agenda is to highlight the dark side of drug abuse, or champion certain addiction treatments or rehabilitation programs, what good can possibly come from it?There was a certain element of truth in Kid Rock’s words. Some people are fortunate in that occasional drug usage has minimal effect on their lives. But for many, drug abuse leads to self-destruction. Perhaps Kid Rock could try and bestow his public drug ponderings with a healthier purpose in future by applauding the thousands of people who have reinvigorated their lives through rehab, rather than claiming that he just doesn’t understand it.
