lake denton dam in wisconsin dells
By admin | June 19, 2008
The flooding in the Midwest is starting to become a pretty big problem. Not only is it affecting farmers’ ability to plant their crops, which in turns affects our food supply and ethanol supply, but it is also putting a major crimp in some popular tourist destinations. One example is the flooding that happened in the city of lake denton (which is essentially part of the city of Wisconsin Dells). Lake Denton (the lake, not the city) is a dammed lake but the heavy rains in the area caused it to get too full and the dam collapsed sending the entire 267 acre lake down the Wisconsin River. The emptying of the lake sent so much water down the river that four lakefront homes were washed away in a matter of minutes. It really is an eerie site watching a house float down a river.
