Mailboxes and youth

Why is it that mailboxes seem to be an attraction for young adults and youth to want to destroy. I was driving around a neighborhood the other day and came across a street where it appears some young children or possibly even young adults saw it necessary to knock every single one of the mailboxes down. Why? I just don’t understand what the appeal of that is and why they find this so entertaining. That’s why it’s a good idea for neighbors now days to get together and have a crime watch for their neighborhood. It would certainly help to deter this kind of deviant behavior.
