The art of fencing

Fencing does not have to be ugly. I have driven through cities that had ugly fencing. Tall chain link fencing with concertina wire on top would be a perfect example of that. You can even take a cyclone fence and turn it into a decorative fence by adding slats to the wire. Slats can be either wood or vinyl. One classic approach to decorative fencing is the use of wrought iron work. It can include points on the top and scroll work throughout the uprights. Examples of this can be found in New Orleans designs. Whether the purpose of the fence is to hide, protect, or beautify, fencing can be used to add a functional element of art to a property.
