The Importance Of Golf Etiquette

While many sports enjoy the benefit of an umpire or referee, golf relies almost entirely on the players themselves to ensure fair play. As a result, and also to ensure the enjoyment of the game by all concerned, golf etiquette has developed over the years to provide a framework for the game. In essence golf etiquette is nothing more than a set of widely accepted practices which ensure that the game can be played safely, at a reasonable pace, and with due regard to the preservation of the golf course and the enjoyment of the players. Golf etiquette is if you like an extension to the official rules of the game but, more importantly, it is simply a standard of behavior which the vast majority of golfers find acceptable and which helps to ensure that everyone has a happy day’s golfing.
