Choosing the right computer for college students

Among some of the more useful articles on computers that I have read recently I would have to include one that I saw in a major newsmagazine that dealt with how to choose the right computer for your college student. This article says that, all other things being equal, you should choose a laptop computer as these are very portable — College students can take them to classes. Their Computer should be capable of handling e-mail, as well as surfing the Internet — and should be equipped with a basic software selection which includes a good word processing application at a minimum.
