Popularity of DAB Portable Radio in the UK

By admin | January 19, 2009

In the United States, there are three license categories: the amateur extra category, the general class and the technician one. In the UK it is a different set-up because of the popularity of DAB portable radio. The American three modules usually work for people who take radio operation as a hobby and just want put up a ham station. Together with the licensing, all national, amateur and local rad stations get a call sign they afterwards use on air for the purpose of legal identification. Some operators use some vanity call signs for which they have to pay a fee, but the procedure is not standard for all states.
